INITIAL CONSULTATION
This is your opportunity to show us any inspiration, design ideas and tell us all about your wedding and personal style. You’ll meet with our founder and designer, Kerri, and you’ll be able to try on pieces from our collection and she can discuss and advise on silhouettes, fabrics and design details with you. This appointment can also be done virtually if you prefer.
DESIGN & MEASUREMENTS
Once we’ve got a good idea of your style, Kerri will sketch up some designs and source some fabric options, and you’ll be welcomed back for an appointment to go through these to discuss and finalise a design. We’ll also take your measurements during this appointment.
TOILE FITTING
Once we’ve finalised a design, we’ll create a bespoke pattern unique to your measurements. We’ll then make this up into a toile (a mock-up garment made in a practice fabric, usually a cotton calico) and invite you in to try this on to check the fit. This is an exciting step towards seeing your dress come to life, but this stage takes some imagination. We’ll be able to discuss and tweak any design details at this stage, as we pin, drape and mark on the toile. You will need to bring your underwear and shoes to any fittings so we can make sure it all sits ok.
FIRST FITTING
Following from the toile fitting, we’ll make any necessary amendments to the pattern and then start to make your dress up in the final fabric, at last! For your first fitting, the dress will usually still be unfinished at this stage, as we want to double check the fit before adding any fastenings or finishing touches.
FURTHER FITTINGS
Depending on what alterations are needed after the first fitting, you may need to come back for more fittings in order to achieve the perfect fit, ensure the length is correct and add any finishing touches. Bespoke brides generally need 3-5 fittings in total, and you will see it come more to life at each stage.
FINAL COLLECTION
Once the dress is finished, you’ll come back for a final appointment to try it on again and check it’s all perfect, before taking it away. Creating a bespoke dress is such a personal journey, in which we’ll get to know you more on each visit, and we’ll usually be waving you off from this final appointment with a bittersweet goodbye, sad for no more fittings with you, but very excited to see photos from your day!
